The Guanabara Palace is one of our fave hotels for the Carnival period.It's certainly a very good deal. A true 4-star for the price of a budget hotel in Copacabana. The subway makes the difference. No, it's not located in Copacabana or Ipanema. It's well located in the heart of Rio's, normally a financial and commercial district, an area that is the largest focus for Carnival parades and festivities, day and night. For those who want to go to Copa or Ipanema, there is a subway station, Uruguaina, working 24/7 during carnival days, allowing guests easy access to every point in the city. Available for the guests enjoyment on the roof terrace, and overlooking Gaunabara Bay and other historical monuments of Rio, is a pool, sauna, and pool side bar. The hotel has 485 rooms and suites all with hardwood floors and beautifully furnished featuring mini-bars, cable TVs, digital telephones, private safes, and air conditioning.
