Samba School Technical Rehearsals Take Place at the Rio Sambodromo from Mid December Through Last Saturday Before Rio Carnival Kicks Off.

What are Technical Rehearsals good for? If you want to get a glimpse of the 2014 Rio Carnival thrill, then you have to be there at Sambadrome to watch the technical rehearsals. All the samba schools gear up for the parade much in advance to vie for the championship spot. To ensure a perfect finale the samba schools hold rehearsals with sound and light during the month of December and goes on till February, so you can actually get a peek into the theme of the samba school parades.

You get to see the magnificence of the parades during the technical rehearsals at the Sambadrome, absolutely free of cost. You get to see the complex logistics involved in the largest event. The stadium comes alive with the samba music and in case you attended any practice sessions at samba schools, then you can just groove to the orchestra. It is during the technical rehearsals that you will get to wear costumes and interact with the supporters. The best day of technical rehearsals is the last day, where you can actually get down and join the revelers when the traditional street bands join the parade at the end of all rehearsals. It is the most spectacular end to the rehearsals and a grand beginning to the finale.
