How to get to the Sambadrome in Rio

Find out what’s the best way to get to the Sambadrome.

To get to the Sambadrome it’s easy, and the majority of people will be heading that direction during Canival time. You may call one of those taxi services to take there. Tell the taxi driver your carnival ticket Sector number at the Sambadrome, so that he will take you to the right entrance gate. Sambadrome has an agreement with two taxi companies and you may use their services if you wish. On the way back you may use these taxis that are parked between Sector 9 and 11.

One of the best ways to get to the Sambadrome is by metro. They leave every 10 minutes all night long full of people on their costumes and everyone heading to the same destination, the Sambadrome. The metro station is 10 minutes from the Sambadrome. Convetional buses are the cheapest way to go there.

Our Transfer Service is the most convenient and safe way to go the Sambadrome. There are several pick up locations available at the South Zone of Rio “Zona Sul”, usually there are 3 scheduling times to choose from, and on the way back your shuttle will be waiting for you outside at the same area where you were dropped off, at every samba school intermission break, and take you back to the location where you were picked up.

If your Sector is number 8, 10 or 12, take Rua Carmo Neto to Av. Salvador de Sa. Sambadrome will be right there with big signs making it easy for you to find your Sector.

Both ways the taxi has to take Viaduto Sao Sebastiao which is parallel to the Sambadrome, your destination. There are signs of all Sectors that will help you identify the entrance to your Sector.

METRO – from the South Zone or the North Zone, the best one to come out will be the Central station. Then walk straight to the Sambadrome, it’s about 700 meters walking ahead, if you look around there will be many samba school floats getting ready and lining up at the “Terreirao do Samba” samba fields.
