The Sambadrome in Rio can be reached in many different ways

Find out what’s the best way to get to the Sambadrome.

You can get to Sambadrome in many different ways. By taxi: The Carnival venue has an agreement with TaxiRio so any taxi cab with a QR code will drop you off close to the venue. Tell the taxi driver your sector number to take you to the correct entrance and on the way back, you can take one of these taxis, parked between sectors 8 and 10 on the even side and between sectors 9 and 11 on the odd side.

Another option is conventional buses, which are the cheapest means of transportation available but the least suitable way to get to the Sambadrome, as many bus routes change during parade days.

One of the best ways to go to watch the Samba Schools Parade is by subway. Trains run every 10 minutes throughout the night with many costumed revelers heading to the Sambadrome and the service runs 24 hours during the parade days. By buying ticket packages for even sectors on our website you get a free round-trip subway.

Even Sectors

If your ticket is on the even side, sector 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, or 12, the options are:

Taxi – The company authorized to do the taxi service on the even side is Coopatur. The service has pre-arranged prices and requires the customer to call ahead to schedule the service. Coopatur Tel: +55 (21) 97198-6940

Subway – The subway service is very reliable and safe, running uninterrupted throughout the parade days 24 hours a day, with a 10-minute break during the night. For even sectors, the best station is Praça Onze. Leave Praça Onze station through access B - Marquês de Sapucaí, and go straight to Sector 2. The Sambadrome will be in front with excellent signage so you can find your sector. You can also use our Rio Carnaval Angels service, learn more here.

Bus – We do not recommend using buses as a means of transport for those unfamiliar with the city.

Odd Sectors

If you purchased tickets for one of the odd sectors 3, 5, 7, 9, or 11 the options are:

Taxi – Just like the even side, only authorized taxis from TaxiRio with QR code are allowed to get passengers from the Sambadrome. They are stationed closer to the Military Police Battalion on the corner of Marques de Pombal and Frei Caneca streets.

Subway – The best station to get off is Central Station. From there, you will walk to the Sambadrome for about 700 meters, along the floats of the upcoming samba schools and the famous "Terreirão do Samba".

Bus – We do not recommend using buses as a means of transport for those unfamiliar with the city.
